Michael’s practice focuses on medical malpractice, elder abuse, healthcare law and administration and personal injury defense. Michael continues to represent physicians and hospitals throughout Northern California, noting he has specialized in this work for over 40 years. Michael graduated from Sacramento State University in 1971, then attended University of California College of Law in San Francisco (formerly known as Hastings College of Law), graduating in 1974. Michael is an AV rated attorney by Martindale Hubbell and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has been named a Northern California “Super Lawyer” every year for the last 15 years.
Michael is very dedicated to the Sacramento Community, having served on the board of directors for Make a Wish, Mercy Foundation, and has participated in fundraising for many charitable causes. Most recently he participated in fundraising for the construction of Quinn Cottages-transitional residences for homeless in Sacramento. He is most proud of leading the campaign to raise 1.5 million dollars to build the River Cats Independence Field, a fully accessible baseball field serving adults and children with disabilities.
Dennis McPherson is 4th generation Californian, raised in Southern California. He completed undergraduate education at University of California San Diego, majoring in Political Science. Law school was at Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, California, completed in 1986. After law school Dennis primarily focused on personal injury defense litigation, working in-house for several insurance companies. In 1997 he joined Duncan, Ball, Evans, and Ubaldi in Sacramento where he focused on the defense of medical malpractice claims. Since then, he has represented healthcare providers and hospitals in malpractice litigation, licensure actions, OSHA/CDPH citations, complex patient discharges and placements and probate matters. In 2003, he was elevated to partner and after the formation of Ubaldi and McPherson in 2008, became managing partner in 2016.
Dennis has tried numerous cases in throughout Northern California and given presentations to healthcare organizations on topics including specific medical care issues, nursing documentation, standards of care, Patient Safety Organization privileges, nursing licensure accusations, and probate conservatorships. Dennis is rated AV (Preeminent ) by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating for legal expertise, integrity, and professionalism.
When not working, Dennis enjoys cooking, traveling and golf.
Jamie Pearson is an Associate Attorney at Ubaldi & McPherson, LLP, where her practice focuses on medical malpractice defense, conservatorship, and other Hospital-related litigation issues. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Communications from the University of Arizona. While in college, Jamie interned as a “Victims’ Rights Advocate” in Arizona Attorney General Janet Napolitano’s Office. Jamie graduated with Distinction from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. During law school, she was a member of the nationally ranked McGeorge Mock Trial Competition Team. For eight years, Jamie was an Adjunct Professor in Trial Advocacy at McGeorge School of Law. She is admitted to practice law in all Courts of the State of California, and in the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, and Eastern Districts of California. Prior to her work at Ubaldi and McPherson, LLP, Jamie was an Associate Attorney at Flesher Broomand (formerly Barry Ubaldi McPherson & Flesher) from 2003 to 2009.
In her free time, Jamie enjoys going on adventures with her three daughters, traveling and scuba diving with her boyfriend, and open water swimming. A three-time “Escape from Alcatraz” swimmer, Jamie likes to swim at Berkeley Marina with Odyssey Swim Group or Nimbus Flat on Lake Natoma with her swimming partner.
